Search Countries
Search all 217 countries and territories by name or ISO code to open a full profile covering 47 development indicators from World Bank Open Data, the World Health Organization, and ILO ILOSTAT. According to the World Bank, its World Development Indicators span more than 1,400 series; as of May 2026 each country profile renders the comparable subset live from that data. See our methodology for sourcing.

How PlainCountries Search Works
This search matches country and territory names plus ISO-2 and ISO-3 codes against the PlainCountries country table (217 profiles). Type a common name ("Japan"), a short code ("US"), or an ISO-3 code ("BRA"). Partial strings work when they appear in the stored name or code; if nothing matches, try the official English name or the three-letter code from the World Bank country list.
What Happens Behind the Search Box
Each query runs against our read-only SQLite mirror of World Bank, WHO, ILO, OECD, and USGS series joined to the country roster. We refresh that mirror on a scheduled cadence (see methodology for source vintages). Results open the matching country profile with the live indicator tables for that ISO-3; we do not invent missing values or carry stale years forward as current.
Responsible Use of Search Results
Figures come from official statistical agencies and can lag the newest national release, differ by compilation method, or be missing for some countries. Treat every number as a citation starting point: confirm the observation year on the profile and, for consequential decisions, check the issuing agency (World Bank WDI, WHO, ILOSTAT, OECD.Stat, or USGS). PlainCountries does not give legal, medical, or financial advice, does not rank countries as inherently "best" or "worst," and does not accept paid placement.
Search Privacy
Your search queries are processed server-side and are not attached to any account. We log aggregate query patterns (term frequencies, not individual queries tied to a person) for the sole purpose of improving the search index and flagging records where visitors expect more detail. We never sell, share, or resell search logs. If you would like your query logs disregarded entirely, enable private browsing or a tracker-blocker, we respect these settings.
